A federal appeals court has suspended US President Donald Trump's tariff ban, imposed the day before by another court. While the appeal is pending, the duties remain in effect. According to US media, the case will likely reach the Supreme Court.
The appeals court also ordered the parties to submit their arguments in writing by early June.
The day before, the US Court of International Trade ruled that Trump had exceeded his authority in imposing global import tariffs and ordered them blocked.
The three-judge panel's decision said that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA), which Trump invoked to justify the tariffs, does not give the president the right to impose tariffs on almost the entire world.
