OpenAI Signs $38 Billion Deal with Amazon

A major shift in the tech world is underway. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has signed a $38 billion agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) — its largest cloud deal to date.

Under the agreement, OpenAI will begin using existing AWS data centers immediately, while Amazon will expand its infrastructure to meet the AI company’s growing needs. Initially, the systems will rely on Nvidia chips, but Amazon’s own chips could be integrated later.

Until now, OpenAI has relied almost entirely on Microsoft Azure, but the new deal signals the company’s intent to diversify its infrastructure and increase independence. Amazon will now play a key role in powering OpenAI’s next-generation systems — from model training to real-time deployment.

For AWS, the deal represents a major credibility boost and an opportunity to strengthen its position in the race against Microsoft and Google Cloud.

Experts say the AI race is entering a new stage: it’s no longer just about building models, but about controlling the computing power behind them.

With a $38 billion investment, OpenAI is clearly preparing for its next big leap in artificial intelligence.
