Ottawa Senators snap losing streak with road win over Columbus Blue Jackets

The Ottawa Senators stopped their slide by opening a challenging road trip with a 6–3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The win snapped a three-game losing streak that had come during a difficult homestand.

Drake Batherson led the way with a goal and two assists, while Tim Stützle scored twice. Claude Giroux, Michael Amadio and David Perron also found the net. Dylan Cozens added three assists, and goaltender Linus Ullmark made several key saves to help Ottawa hold on.

“It’s a huge win. After losing three at home, you want to start a road trip the right way, and we did that tonight,” Batherson said.

The victory came with a cost, however. Centre Lars Eller left the game with a lower-body injury after blocking a shot and did not return for the third period. The Senators were already without Shane Pinto and defenceman Thomas Chabot.

Ottawa jumped out to a 4–1 lead, but Columbus pushed back in the second period. Stützle’s second goal late in the period restored breathing room, giving the Senators a 5–3 lead after 40 minutes. Ottawa then played a more disciplined third period to close out the win.

Head coach Travis Green praised his team’s response: “Columbus pushed hard in the second, but I thought we showed more maturity in the third.”

The win keeps the Senators’ playoff hopes alive, though the team continues to search for greater consistency over a full 60-minute effort.
