Wildfires

Manitoba continues to battle massive wildfires, including one in the eastern part of the province that has killed two people. Opposition MP Rick Wowchuk said the victims were Richard and Sue Noell, residents of Lac du Bonnet. Their bodies were found Wednesday.

The fire in the area, a popular summer home northeast of Winnipeg, has spread to more than 4,000 hectares. The Manitoba government has declared a state of emergency in Whiteshell Provincial Park due to the threat of fire, and has ordered all people to evacuate by Thursday evening.

The Alberta government said it would send two fire crews and support personnel to Manitoba to help battle the blaze.
