Ottawa Dance Academy — A Story of Success
Dance Studio for Children and Adults
From studio classes to international recognition, the academy founded by Ludmila Kashkovar has become a symbol of growth, creativity, and inspiration for Ottawa’s young dancers.
My Journey with the Academy
My name is Lena Alexeeva, and I’ve been part of this amazing community for over ten years. My dance path began in Ukraine and continued in Canada. Over time, Ottawa Dance Academy became not only the place where I trained but also where I’ve taught for nearly a decade.
I hold an ADAPT teaching certificate and have attended workshops across Canada and the U.S. — experiences that help me bring new ideas and modern techniques to every class.
I teach ballet, jazz, contemporary, and acrobatics to students of all ages. My choreographies have received awards, but the greatest reward is seeing my students grow in confidence and artistry.
The Academy Today
For us, Ottawa Dance Academy is more than a dance school — it’s a family that nurtures young artists and leaders. Our dancers regularly win top prizes at competitions such as Hit the Floor, Shine Dance Competition, View Dance Challenge, Inspire Dance Challenge, Canadian Dance Awards, and many more.
At Ticket to Broadway Nationals in Atlantic City, the studio received the ADCC Studio of Excellence Award along with numerous accolades for choreography and performance.
We also take part in Ottawa’s cultural life — performing at festivals, community events, and collaborations with Mulan Dance Studio, schools like “Uspekh” and “Parus,” and other creative groups.
The Face of the Academy — Ludmila Kashkovar
Founder Ludmila Kashkovar is a teacher with over 20 years of experience, a graduate of the Kyiv Dance Academy, and a Master of Choreography. In Ukraine, she founded Perlyna, one of the country’s largest ensembles, performing across Europe and contributing to Junior Eurovision.
After moving to Canada, she rebuilt everything from the ground up, creating one of Ottawa’s most respected dance schools — a place of professionalism, warmth, and opportunity.
More Than Dance
Today, Ottawa Dance Academy proves that dance can shape character, build confidence, and open doors to the future. It’s a community where creativity, discipline, and friendship grow hand in hand.
