Ottawa Set for Almost Summer-Like Long Weekend with Temperatures up to 29°C

After a long stretch of cool and rainy spring weather, Ottawa residents are finally about to enjoy real warmth. According to Environment Canada, the Victoria Day long weekend will bring sunny and almost summer-like conditions to Ontario’s capital.

Friday will remain relatively mild, with temperatures around 21°C and a chance of brief showers. By Saturday, however, temperatures are expected to rise to 23°C, with even warmer weather forecast for Sunday and Monday. On Victoria Day itself, forecasters predict highs of 28°C — potentially the warmest weather Ottawa has seen so far this year. The heat could intensify further on Tuesday, reaching 29°C.

The sudden warm-up follows an unusually unstable spring. In recent weeks, the region has dealt with both flood concerns along the Ottawa River and increased wildfire risks in the southern parts of the city. Due to dry grass conditions and several grass fires, Ottawa Fire Services even introduced a temporary burn ban.

Meteorologists say temperatures are finally returning to seasonal norms after one of the coolest starts to spring in recent years. Residents are already filling parks, bike paths, and outdoor patios, enjoying the first truly warm weekend of 2026.
