Canada Day 1
Canada Day
Canada Day

On July 1, traditional Canada Day demonstrations took place in many Canadian cities - on this day we celebrate another anniversary of the birth of the Canadian Federation, which was created on July 1, 1867. And the following year, 1868, the Governor General of Canada, Lord Monk, establishes an annual holiday for the creation of a new country. This year, for example, the parade was held in Montreal for the first time after a three-year break caused by the pandemic. The demonstration was attended by dance groups representing communities of immigrants from different countries, musical groups, acrobats, jugglers and other artists. And in the afternoon on Canada Square, all those present were invited to taste a piece of a huge cake, measuring one and a half by 2.5 meters. The City of Toronto has not canceled events, including Canada Day fireworks displays, due to poor air quality, but officials have promised they will continue to monitor the situation as it develops. These and other news are in the issue hosted by Mark Weintrub.
