TRAGEDY IN MANOTICK

On Monday evening, June 17, a teenager drowned in the Walter Upton-Collins Park area of ​​Manotick (south of Ottawa). (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/teen-drowns-rideau-river-manotick-1.7563198)

According to Ottawa Fire Services, three people went swimming in the Rideau River, but only two returned to shore.

The call about the incident was received at about 9:20 p.m. Rescuers deployed a search and rescue boat 25 minutes later. The body of the drowned teenager was found later during the search operation.

The circumstances of the tragedy are being clarified.

Authorities remind about the dangers of swimming in unauthorized places and urge caution near the water.
